Posted on Thursday, May 27th, 2010 at 10:37 AM

Maintaining rich colors is now possible with Preval.  We are inspired by The Let's color project, whose aim "is to inspire people to make a decorative change by demonstrating how a spray of color can make a great impact in their home and how they live and feel within it."

Artists: Preval is FAST

Posted on Thursday, May 20th, 2010 at 9:03 AM

When I was planning the art/performance video using the Preval spray gun, I knew that I had to move quickly. I only had so many hours with the space I was renting, as well as limited time with the cameraman rolling video. My paintings are highly planned - I spend months thinking about and planning the execution. When it comes down the actual painting, I do exactly as planned, with some room for improvisation built in. When I was covering the ground base of my painting, the first thing I noticed was how fast it happened.

Artist and musician, Jeremy Gershfeld, www.egdesignstudio.com had a commission to create a 4 foot by 6 foot painting on canvas in his style of deconstructed 'cello with cut music score in mixed media. Gershfeld came across the Preval Spray System, and realized the applications fit his style perfectly. He decided to make a performance art music video as an ode to his new Preval spray gun.  Check out the serious Preval application on this video!

Staining Wood with the Preval Spray System

Posted on Monday, April 26th, 2010 at 4:15 PM

When you use the Preval Spray System, you have lots of options for staining wood. One great thing about Preval's versatility is that it is easy to use more than one color. This presents the option to produce designs with different colors by using different wood stains. It is important to prevent one color from spreading along the grain of the wood and blurring into the next. This is achieved by carving a groove out of the specific area. In essence, carve the outline of the designs before staining. You can achieve this by deeply scoring the wood with a utility knife.

Choosing Paints and Varnishes when using the Preval Spray System

Posted on Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 at 2:49 PM

The Preval sprayer can be used for both Acrylic and Oil based paints. Latex/Acrylic paint is water based and is very flexible in its application. It can be thinned with water to make a wash, you can pigment it to customize your colors. Essentially when latex paint is applied, it is a skin of colored plastic and water. The water evaporates and you are left with an even coat.

Oil based paints come in flat- eggshell, and gloss finishes. They are tougher, but require much longer to dry, and are more difficult to clean up.

The Artist's toolbox - painting surfaces with the Preval Spray System

Posted on Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 at 10:31 AM

Here are some tools that will greatly enhance your painting experience with Preval, whether painting on a new surface, or restoring an older surface.

**Always remember, whenever you use the Preval Spray System, spray your liquid at no less than a 45 degree angle to vertical, and never shake the spray cannister. You can always shake your fluid in the glass resevoir, with an alternative screw cap that we provide in the system. (Don't worry, we'll keep reminding you of this in future blog posts.)
