It seems like there is always that one piece of old furniture that you can’t bear to part with, but you would be more than happy to revamp. Taking an old piece of furniture and giving it a new look is an easy and cost effective way to incorporate it into any décor. One way you can do this is by taking an old dresser, your favorite poster, and use your Preval Spray System to give that old dresser a new start.
There are a couple of ways that you can go about revitalizing an old piece of furniture. I was looking on www.diynetwork.com and found some easy instructions on how to combine an old dresser with a poster. Here are the materials and the instructions they recommend:
· Dresser or chest of drawers with flat-faced drawer fronts
· One advertisement or poster
· Yardstick
· Pencil
· Rotary cutter
· Self-healing mat
· Sewing/paper weights
· Preval Spray System
· Spray adhesive
· Découpage medium or clear spray sealer
· Brayer
Step 1: Remove the drawer pulls.
Step 2: Hold the poster up to the front of the dresser. Use the yardstick to measure where the top of the poster will fall on the top drawer. Then, measure the height and the distance in between each drawer.
Step 3: Use the yardstick and a pencil to measure and draw lines to divide the poster into sections that correspond with each drawer and each dividing space.
Step 4: Place the poster onto the self-healing mat. Line up the yardstick with each cutting line and weight down the yardstick and poster with either sewing or paper weights. Then, cut each line with a rotary cutter.
Step 5: After the poster is cut, apply each strip to its corresponding drawer. Fill the Preval reservoir with the adhesive and spray each the back of each strip of poster. Position each piece in the center of each drawer.
Step 6: Use the brayer to smooth out and flatten the poster to ensure it sticks well. Allow the poster to dry.
Step 7: Last, apply decoupage medium or use your Preval system to spray on a clear sealer over the poster to help protect it.
Even though a piece of furniture is old doesn’t mean it can’t be brought back to life and be incorporated into any décor. Do you know of some other ways that Preval can help liven up an old piece of furniture? All you have to do is send in your pictures or video that show what you made and how you made it with Preval, and you could win a trip for two to Las Vegas!
