Oh the Things you can do with Tape and a Preval...

Tired of sifting through prints of original art pieces or the cookie cutter "artwork" mass produced for large stores? Get creative! With Masking or Painter's Tape, your paint of choice and a Preval, you can bring a canvas to life and display it in your home knowing that no one else will have  the same exact piece of art!

Materials needed:

  • Paint of your choice (Acrylic is great, but you can also use a latex if you're wanted to match an accent color in the room)
  • Thinner
  • Masking Tape or Painter's Tape
  • Preval Sprayer
  • Drop cloths or newspaper
  • Canvas (you can choose whatever size you want)

What to do:

  1. Tape lines across the canvas to create the design you would like. You can also create other shapes if you would like
  2. Mix 2 parts paint with 1 part thinner (water if you're using acrylic paint) in Preval Reservoir
  3. Attach Preval power unit to reservoir, testing spray flow on a scrap piece of paper
  4. Spray evenly along canvas, making sure to cover the edges of the canvas as well with two coats of paint
  5. Dry overnight
  6. Remove tape and display your artwork for all  to see

You can also do a similar thing with your boring dresser! If you have a great base color already on the dresser, pick out 1 or 2 accent colors and apply tape straight down the top and front of the dresser and drawers for a racing stripe look. Mix the color(s) in Preval reservoir(s) with thinner and alternate the stripes with the color(s). Allow to dry overnight and remove tape.
