When I was planning the art/performance video using the Preval spray gun, I knew that I had to move quickly. I only had so many hours with the space I was renting, as well as limited time with the cameraman rolling video. My paintings are highly planned - I spend months thinking about and planning the execution. When it comes down the actual painting, I do exactly as planned, with some room for improvisation built in. When I was covering the ground base of my painting, the first thing I noticed was how fast it happened. I know Preval is known for the acronym, Fill, Attach, Spray - Today; it was incredibly useful to me in this setting. I used my thumb on the spray control, and moved around the canvas with a control that surprised me. Once I had the paint where I wanted it, I used a squeegee brush to create a specific effect that looked consistent with my other paintings.
